About the Event
Dr. Steve Nicklas and Dr. Jonas Kauffeldt, professors of archaeology and history from the University of North Georgia, will offer a short seminar about the harrowing Battles of the Kurland Pocket in the final months of World War II. Outnumbered five to one, the German and Latvian armies held the peninsula for seven months against the Red Army, withstanding six frontal attacks. The seminar will feature Dr. Nicklas' personal collection of artifacts which are currently on display at the museum: "History Unearthed: the Six Battles of Kurland." The free, public seminar is offered at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
