About the Event

Back by popular demand! The public is invited to join the 6th Cavalry Museum at the former Fort Oglethorpe U.S. Army base theater, now the Liberty Baptist Church, for a free screening of The Six Triple Eight, an award-winning documentary about the only all-female, all African American U.S. military unit to serve overseas during World War II. After receiving their combat training at Fort Oglethorpe in 1945, 855 members of the Women's Army Corps shipped to Birmingham England for a one-of-a-kind mission: clear a 2-year backlog of mail to Americn G.I.'s serving in the European theater of war.
