Public Art

MuralWall.jpg

Fort Oglethorpe's Public Art initiative began in 2019 with the painted mural by artist Wes Hardin at Gilbert Stephenson Park.  The mural tells the history of the Army Post at Fort Oglethorpe, 1902- 1947.  A solar audio box tells four stories that relate to the mural to bring "history to life."  You can listen to each of the four stories below.

The Army Post
00:00 / 01:46
End of the Horse Cavalry
00:00 / 01:56
Society Life
00:00 / 01:41
Women are Soldiers Too

Funding for the mural and solar audio box was provided by Lyndhurst Foundation and the State of Georgia Tourism Product Development grant.
